Principal Jennifer Potter |
A couple changes have taken place since last year... as you've probably noticed by the new person sending this family communication. My name is Jennifer Potter, and I am very excited to begin my first year as principal at Green Tree Elementary School. The staff truly is one of the hardest working group of teachers I have had the pleasure to work with, and the students are already keeping me positively challenged most moments of the day. I have had homework every night so far, trying to find answers to questions such as "how do I keep shoelaces tied tight enough to survive kindergarten?" to "how do I create a profile in Minecraft?"
I do not have the easy answers for either of these questions in case you are wondering as well.

We have some other new faces at Green Tree this year as well! Please welcome the following new staff members for the 2019-20 school year:
September Updates
- This year, students will be learning new techniques through the Social Emotional Program Second Step that will help them to set and achieve goals, gain confidence both in and out of the classroom, and collaborate well with one another. Each week, teachers will be targeting skills in the classroom and Green Tree will celebrate when students demonstrate these skills both academically and outside the classroom. Below are a list of the themes and skills your students will be targeting during the month of September:
- Week 1: Welcoming words and actions
- Week 2: Safe words and actions
- Week 3: Respectful words and actions
- Week 4: Responsible words and actions
- Students will be STAR testing during the next two weeks for Math and Reading. Please encourage your students to do the best they can and we will continue to celebrate their best!
- Family Night will be held on September 12 from 5:00 - 6:30p.m. Reminders will continue to be sent through Skyward, and please see the flyer below. We look forward to having you there!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Potter
