Hello Green Tree Families!
Our students and staff had a wonderful, busy month! The Marco's fundraiser was a huge success earlier this month, as well as Trunk or Treat at the end of the month. The ABC Parent group shared that this year was our biggest turnout. We had 21 decorated trunks and 115 children! There were so many amazing trunks and costumes, and we thank you for your creativity! Here are just a few of the wonderfully decorated trunks that showed up this year! See our facebook page for more photos!
This month, our schoolwide theme is empathy. In our morning announcements and school assembly, we will be reminding students to have empathy, identify their own and others’ feelings, notice and respect same and different feelings, and show compassion. Compassion involves saying kind words or doing something helpful to show you care how another person feels. When students can identify, understand, and respond in a caring way to how someone else is feeling, it helps create a positive and accepting school climate. Please tell your child’s teacher if you have any questions about how you can help your child learn to identify feelings and show empathy and compassion at home.
I'd like to take a moment to introduce our newest staff member, Anna Bryant. Anna is our school nurse and we are so happy to welcome her to the Green Tree family! She moved to Wisconsin from North Carolina 3 years ago to be closer to family. Anna has been a nurse in a variety of settings for the past 10 years, including the hospital and outpatient clinics. Anna's husband also works in the district as the Athletic Director at West Bend East High School. They have two children that attend Decorah Elementary. The cold weather is definitely a big adjustment for her, so feel free to stop in to introduce yourselves and give her suggestions on how to stay warm this winter!
