April Newsletter

Hello Gator Families!

First and foremost, thank you for your efforts to support your child(ren) with distance learning. We know this is not ideal, and that it takes a lot of work to learn a new platform such as Google Classroom for both you and your student. It is important that all students are engaging in the activities the teachers are sending to maintain the learning that occurred up until March 13. When students participate in the learning that teachers are building on through these virtual activities, it puts us in the best possible place to return to our learning when that time comes. If you are having any trouble accessing Google Classroom, or finding a structure to use it that works for your family, please reach out to your child's teacher, me, or our counselor.

We know that the earliest we will return to school is April 27, unless the Governor's Safer at Home order changes between now and then. Families can expect notification from Superintendent Kirkegaard regarding any changes or updates regarding our return to school.

This week your child's teacher(s) will be sharing activities that you can do during spring break. None of this is required, but we also recognize that a week off of school after having just started up again may be hard for students. Some families might appreciate keeping up a routine of school during the break, while others might love to take a break entirely. Whatever you choose is okay! We just want to make sure you have options.

As we continue along this journey of distance learning, the staff that supports your child through intervention, EL, or GT will continue to provide support through your child’s Google Classroom account. These staff members may also reach out to your family individually to check-in and provide support. Please know that the our staff members will be responding to any questions or concerns you have daily.

We will continue to host Virtual Spirit Week throughout April, so please stay tuned to the Green Tree Elementary School Facebook page and/or your child's Google Classroom for updates on spirit activities for the week. Please post and send photos!  We love to see the students engaged during this time away from us!

Please take time to view the tabs above for ABC Parent Group and Counselor updates. Both have shared important messages last week that might help answer further questions you may have during this time.

Thank you again for all of your support and efforts during this time.  We appreciate the encouragement and engagement from all of you!

Take care, stay healthy, and give your kids a hug from all of us!
