May Newsletter

Hello Green Tree families,

Please see the updates and reminders below:

Second Step

After this week finishes reinforcing the skills related to empathy, we will begin working on practicing our steps to problem solving through the month of May. I will be reminding students of the following STEPS in my weekly video uploaded to Facebook and in google classrooms to give students optional challenges to participate in at home:

S: Say the problem
T: Think of solutions
E: Explore consequences
P: Pick the best solution

As you can see, the first letter of each step spells the word ”step.” Remembering “step” helps students solve problems with each other in safe and respectful ways.

Second Step lessons specifically teach students to use each step and reinforce the message that solutions need to be safe and respectful. We hope the steps will be helpful for you and your child when there are problems at home.

Counselor Connection

Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week!  I just want to take a moment to publicly thank our teachers at Green Tree for all of the hard and amazing work they do with our students.  If you have any positive messages to send to your child's classroom teacher, please do! I’m certain they would love to hear it! Please see our ABC Parent Group link above for ideas on ways to appreciate your child's teachers.

As always, please reach out with any questions, concerns, comments, or ideas.
