Green Tree Elementary School Family Updates

Welcome to November ! October was a busy month full of learning, as well as building a positive and safe environment here at Green Tree. Our schoolwide theme was focused on skills for learning: listening, focusing attention, using self-talk to stay on-task, and being assertive when asking for help with a learning task. In our morning announcements and in class, we focused on these skills each day, and students are really starting to shine as successful learners. As we move into November, our schoolwide theme is focused on empathy. In our morning announcements, we’ll be reminding students to have empathy, identify their own and others’ feelings, notice and respect same and different feelings, and show compassion. When students can identify, understand, and respond in a caring way to how someone else is feeling, it helps create a positive and accepting school climate. Hello Gator Families! Before moving into the October happenings, I'd like to recap some of the fun we had in September.  Gator Grin cards were introduced to students the second week of school.  Each card has a space for 15 stamps. When students fill up a card, they turn the card into their classroom teacher to be counted towards the schoolwide incentive. At the end of each week, a class or a grade level with the most cards turned in earns a celebration. Below are some of the celebrations we've had so far: First grade classes won a special lunch with the principal outside Mr. Bury's 3rd grade class won a "Chalk the Walk"- where they can decorate the sidewalks at the entrance of the school Kindergarten classes won story time with Snappy We set a goal to earn 300 cards as a school and met that goal last week! As a celebration, all students will be earning a 30 minute movie this Friday. Our next goal is to earn 600 for another fun, schoolwide celebration! Wish us l...
